About
My name is Kévin Planolles and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Ecology at the University of Montpellier. I work at both MARBEC (MARine Biodiversity, Exploitation and Conservation) and LIRMM (Laboratoire d'Informatique, Robotique et Micro-Electronique de Montpellier), where I am part of the ICAR team.
My PhD is supervised by Marc Chaumont, Gérard Subsol and Sébastien Villéger. It is titled "Automatic census of coastal fishes biodiversity". This work is founded by the ANR project FISH-PREDICT which aims to predict the biodiversity of reef fishes within the context of global change.
My research primarily focuses on computer vision applied to underwater object detection and classification with deep learning methods. I also explore issues related to long-tail learning and fine-grained classification.
